Embossed Leaves....the Good and the Bad
I finished my super secret project over the weekend. It was another pair of Embossed Leaves~~this pair will be mailed out today to destination and recipient unrevealed at this point.
Details:
Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock Somerset
Addi Turbo Size 1 Magic Loop
Modifications: Just did a regular cast on. Everything else was as written, I believe.
The socks are snug, but they should be to bring out the embossed leaves pattern. I hope they fit the recipient (and that she likes them)!

Here are the first pair of Embossed leaves I made. For these I used Sundara sock yarn, which I love, btw. The first sock fits perfectly. The second, as I previously posted, not so much. The leg feels the same, but there are definite problems with the length in the second, and to a lesser extent, the width. These were intended for a secret pal exchange, but I could not send along these ill-fitting socks to someone, and I couldn't face ripping one or both out and starting over, so I will keep them for myself. The difference in the size is not a deal breaker for me. I still can't figure out what went wrong. I used the rest of the first skein for the leg of the second sock, and it fits the same as the leg on the first, but once I started the second skein, that's where the trouble in size begins. I wonder if the weight of the second is not slightly different. I love the color and the hand of the yarn, so I will live with the difference. I have plenty of yarn left. I could always rip one out and try again, but I don't see that happening right now.
In other updates: this darling bag arrived in the mail last week after I swapped my 2006 Pattern a Day calendar with Trek for this great sock bag. It's perfect for small projects--since I have no socks OTN right now, it is holding one of my lace projects. If you'd like a cute little bag of your own, head over to see Trek and work out a swap with her. She's gotten some great new fabrics and a new sewing maching for Mother's Day courtesy of Number Guy, so give her a chance to use them! You won't regret it.
ETA: My Knitter's Tea Swap package went out in the mail today! It's now winging its way across the country. And that's all the hints you'll get.
Lastly, a Mother's Day update......A great day was had at Chez Jenny Raye. I slept a little late, but was up in time to post my Mom photo essay and head out for church. After church my mom, dad, and grandmother came over for a cookout. Yummm! Since Dad's heart surgery they don't eat like that very often, so it's nice to splurge every once in a while--burgers, hot dogs, Mom's homemade potato salad, Mum mum's deviled eggs, Strawberry pie, etc.! I received a gift certificate to my local yarn shop, some money, part of which has already been used to purchase lace yarn (love the autumn colors) from handpainted yarn, and a gift certificate to Books a Million. Does my family know me or what? Thanks guys!
Stay tuned for an entry this afternoon about my Amazing Lace entries.......
